A gotta see it, gotta get it film.
ElevationMag's Mark Slane spends some time with the crew of Shoot-Out:
Okay y’all, it's Halloween, it’s windy, it’s spooky and I’m chill’n in the dark with a pre-release copy of Shoot-Out, an independent film written and produced by David Branin running on my big screen.
Big mistake.
No, not the film, just watching it alone. No it’s not a horror flick, it’s just edgy, a bit strange and absolutely captivating and yes it is a little bit nerve-racking. I promised the executive producer and actors, Tyshawn Bryant, and Daniel Sol that I wouldn't tell you the ending so I won’t but I will tell you to check it out the second you can.
I will also tell you this. The film is a basketball film. It’s a film about a game between two men for a prize a lot more valuable than a fly pair of J’s, a triple XL autographed T-Mac jersey or a cool “G”. Daniel Sol and Tyshawn Bryant are shot from impossible angles and the cinematographer manages to put you on the court and in the game. Honestly, the editing of Damon Stout, and the perfect production work of Ivan Rodriguez keeps you glued to the tube from tip off to…well, I promised I wouldn’t tell you what.
You can check out the trailer here but get ready for the real deal. The film has already won over critics and film festival judges, in a short while it will win you over too.
The crew, actors and writers are all professionals and living the life in Cali, but they haven’t lost the love for the game. You can see that in the film and in just how intense these guys play. It’s hardly an act, is what I’m trying to say. Its real ball, real emotion and as I said, really captivating.
I asked the guys, what’s up next and here’s what they had to say as far as next projects go. David Branin will be releasing another short film shortly. Its current title is “Honey I’m Home” and I’ll be sure to catch that one too. Daniel Sol, and his brother Alex Sol of American History X will be working together this fall on a music video spoof film. And, soon after that, with a full plate, Daniel will be back at it on the court working on a full length feature film with a basketball theme.
Daniel's co-star, Tyshawn Bryant is also busy with an ongoing project and is scheduled to star in an upcoming Branin feature film. Busy guys, no doubt.
I also wanted to express the ElevationMag crew’s thanks to the folks over at DreamRegime Productions for the heads up on this terrific film and want to wish them the best.
Oh yeah, and for you kids out there who may watch Shoot-Out – Don’t Try This At Home. (just kidding, well kinda….Out!)
