"There is no 'Melo dialogue, has not been and will never be," the league source said. "It's a figment of their imagination."
The Heat are rumored to be making Carlos Boozer their top target this offseason, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. I'm sure the Jazz remember what Boozer did to the Cavs when he suddenly left and signed with Utah. It could happen again.

The Nets have had exploratory conversations with Denver about Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby, league sources told the Bergen Record. But the question I have is who would the Nuggets take in return? Just because Kiki was the man who brought the pair to Denver doesn't mean he has a shot of acquiring them in New Jersey. Terrible story from the Jersey newspaper.
Shane Battier, who is recovering from last week's ankle surgery, said Wednesday that he will no longer be a candidate for the US Team in this summer's Olympics. "I just got off the crutches today," Battier said, according to the Houston Chronicle. "After talking to Dr. (Tom) Clanton, I won't start running until after July 4. There is a (USA Basketball) minicamp the last weekend in June. If you can't play in the minicamp, you probably can't make the team, so that that probably means the decision has been made."

Pretty much everyone I know loves the introductions at NBA games, but apparently David Stern doesn't. "I'm going to get in trouble for this, but I think they're ridiculous," the commissioner said. "I think the noise, the fire, the smoke is a kind of assault that we should seriously consider reviewing in whether it's really necessary given the quality of our game," I wonder how he feels about Sheed's dance.
Mike D'Antoni has completed his negotiations with New York and will be introduced as the Knicks' new coach at a press conference today at 1 p.m. ET.
Mike D'Antoni is expected to make a push for the Suns' Boris Diaw and Leandro Barbosa this offseason, according to the NY Daily News. An offer for Stephon Marbury's contract could possibly get a deal done.
The Bulls aren't too happy with Mike D'Antoni after the former Suns coach blew off Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and chose New York over Chicago. "I'm disappointed in him," Reinsdorf told the Chicago Tribune. "I don't know what else we could've done. He chose to go to New York knowing there was a good chance we would make him an offer. If he had really wanted to be in Chicago, he would've waited. Instead, he misled us. It's not the end of the world, but it is somewhat rude."

Despite starting a new job this summer, Mike D'Antoni said he will still fulfill a six-week obligation to the US Team as an assisant coach, according to the New York Post. "Mike called me and told me he wouldn't miss it for the world," Bryan Colangelo told The Post. "He probably has the most thorough knowledge of international basketball of all NBA coaches."
The Suns' search for a new coach is underway and is expected to take weeks. "I don't expect any quick fix," GM Steve Kerr said, according to the Arizona Republic. "It may take a month. It's hard to say, but I'm not in a rush. We want to be thorough and methodical."

Gilbert Arenas said he won't return to Washington next season if the Wizards do not re-sign free agent forward Antawn Jamison. "If Antawn is not back, then there's no point in me coming back because he's part of my success, too," the outgoing guard wrote in his blog. Arenas can opt out of his contract, and said he would do so, but that would be a huge mistake considering he missed most of the season with a left knee injury.

Steve Francis will remain with the Rockets, but Dikembe Mutombo's future remains uncertain. Houston expects a decision from Dikembe within the next couple of weeks. "If he decides he wants to come back, it's a good thing for us," GM Daryl Morey said, according to the Houston Chronicle. "We need someone of size if we lose Dikembe to retirement. With two max (contract) guys, we can't commit a lot of money to the backup center who is going to play 10 to 15 minutes a night. It doesn't make the structure of your roster work."

The Atlanta Hawks announced today that Executive Vice-President and General Manager Billy Knight has submitted his resignation, effective July 1st, after six seasons with the club. It looks like money will be the deciding factor to whether Mike D'Antoni joins the Bulls or the Knicks. Both teams are expected to make offers by the end of the week. Don't be surprised if D'Antoni is just using New York as leverage to increase Chicago's price for the coach.
The NBA admitted Chauncey Billups' 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter of Monday's Detroit-Orlando Game 2 should not have counted.
